New Assault Allegations Laid Against Man United’s Antony
Fresh assault allegations have been made against Manchester United forward, Antony, who is already under scrutiny following claims of domestic violence from his ex-girlfriend.
In total, three women have accused the 23-year-old footballer of abuse and assault, including his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin. She initially came forward in January with allegations of abuse, and has since made three additional statements to the police; which are currently being investigated by police in São Paulo, Brazil, and Manchester, England.
Cavallin’s latest allegations have seen two more women come forward with their own experiences on Thursday, 7 September.
Rayssa de Freitas, a law student, told several international outlets that she was involved in an altercation with Antony in May 2022 during a night out. De Freitas claimed that she required hospital treatment after the incident, and has since reported it to the São Paulo Civil Police.
A Brazilian television station has also shared a short clip of Ingrid Lana, a 33-year-old banker, in which she spoke about Antony pushing her against the wall, causing her to hit her head. The full interview is expected to air this weekend.
In response to the allegations – which Antony has firmly denied – Brazil’s national team have dropped the player from his international duties. Man United have also issued a statement acknowledging the accusations and saying that they were “taking them seriously”.
